Ale's Birthday and Forth of July 2010

Fourth of July is also Alessandra's Birthday. When I received the invitation to her Birthday party on my mobile phone, I was thrilled! I was waiting since the Wishes Party (see post) this past December, to go back to Alessandra and Elio's home during Spring or Summer season, and this was the best occasion of all.
Il 4 di Luglio e' anche il compleanno di Alessandra. Quando ho ricevuto l'invito alla sua festa di compleanno sul mio cellulare, ero felicissima! Dalla Festa degli Auguri (vedi post) di questo Dicembre, stavo aspettando l'occasione giusta per tornare a casa di Ale e Elio durante i mesi primaverili o estivi, e questa era sicuramente la festa e il momento migliore per farlo.

What I saw during a cold snowy Winter afternoon today is now a gorgeous backyard full of flowers as these amazing pink and white hydrangeas.
Quello che avevo visto durante un freddo innevato pomeriggio d'inverno oggi e' un meraviglioso giardino pieno di fiori come queste fantastiche ortensie di colore rosa e bianco.

The garden is huge and built very well with a beautiful variety of vegetable and herbs.
L'orto e' enorme e costruito molto bene con una bella varieta' di ortaggi e erbe aromatiche.

La giornata era caldissima. Se bevevamo vino, praticamente lo si evaporava in un secondo...
The day was really warm. If we were drinking some wine, it was evaporating in a second...

And then... a huge wind rised up.... an amazing, strong, refreshing wind... lightning in the sky.... and somewhere there was a storm.

E poi... e' venuto un gran vento... fantastico, forte, fresco vento.... un lampo in lontananza... e da qualche parte ha fatto tempesta.

Great kebabs!! Arrosticini is an Italian specialty from the Abruzzo region and they are lamb meat kekabs; simply delicious.

When I was living in the States, every Forth of July, watching fireworks (that some friends will remember I used to call, in the very beginning, "artificial fires"...LOL), my thoughts were always going to Ale, and to her Birthday. And now, back here in Italy, in our hometown, there will not be fireworks tonight, but my thoughts, watching at these colors coming from Elio's kaleidoscope, are with my American friends. Happy Forth of July all!
Quando vivevo in America, ogni 4 di Luglio, guardando i fuochi d'artificio, i miei pensieri andavano sempre all'Ale, e al suo compleanno. Ed ora, tornata in Italia, nella nostra citta', non ci saranno i fuochi stasera, ma i miei pensieri, guardando questi colori che provengono dal caleidoscopio di Elio, sono con i miei amici Americani. Felice 4 di Luglio a voi tutti!
